Summer Day & Adventure Camp Counselor

At Run for Fun, our counselors are the heart of the camp experience. They are responsible for the care and supervision of their camper groups throughout the day. Depending on the schedule, counselors may be: Leading their group from activity to activity, helping run or assist with camp games and rotations, supervising common areas of camp and jumping into special events and all-camp programs. Counselors are there to make sure every camper feels safe, included, and connected. They set the tone by building positive relationships, encouraging friendships, and being role models in how they play, communicate, and support one another.

Primary Responsibilities

As a Run for Fun Day Camp Staff Member, you’ll play a key role in creating an unforgettable experience for every camper. Your main responsibilities include:
Lead Your Camper Group
Supervise and guide a group of ~16 campers with your co-counselor each day. Make sure everyone feels included, safe, and excited to participate.
Run Morning Activities
Lead sports and games during morning rotations, keeping energy high and campers engaged while making sure activities are fun and accessible for all.
Facilitate Afternoon Choices
In the afternoons, help run choice activities — from sports and games to crafts and water play. Camp Directors will place you where your skills and passions shine.
Promote Safety & Inclusion
Ensure that all campers are physically safe, emotionally supported, and encouraged to treat one another with kindness and respect.
Be Hands-On & Energetic
Actively participate in games, demonstrate rules, cheer campers on, and set the example by jumping into the fun.
Support Field Trips
Help supervise campers on three field trips every two weeks, making sure kids are safe, accounted for, and enjoying the experience.
Collaborate with Co-Staff & Directors
Work closely with your co-counselor and take guidance from Camp Directors, who will always provide support, direction, and encouragement.
