Fox Athletics is a club track team for high school and middle school athletes who want coaching beyond what is offered by their schools. Fox is a great fit for sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers and middle-distance runners and for anyone who wants to seriously focus on track & field. Although we do accept athletes training for all events, our primary focus revolves around building fast twitch muscle fibers.
Our dedicated group of athletes and coaches work hard at practice, and form a community of friendships and valuable mentors along the way. Practices consist of a dynamic warm-up, drills, running workouts, core, lifting and stretching. We train two to three days a week in the Fall/Winter and twice a week during the summer.
Fox Athletics hosts practices from early November – January 31st.
During the Fall and Winter Season practices are held on Monday, Wednesday w/ some weeks have a third day of practice. We practice mainly at Foothill College and Lincoln Park, both located in Los Altos.
We start practice with a dynamic warm-up. Our coaches are firm believers that in order to have great technique in races you must first have great technique at practice. By working on sprint mechanics, athletes have the opportunity to correct their technique so that they can properly apply force into the track and run to the best of their abilities. Practices vary depending on the time of the season. In October and November, the team works to build a base. We then transition into workouts that combine endurance and speed endurance. Our last phase before the high school season is focused on acceleration, speed and technique. We work on improving our core, plyometrics and stretching as those are essential for all track athletes.
We have athletes from Los Altos High School, Palo Alto High School, Mountain View High School, Homestead High School, Burlingame High School, Kings Academy, Egan, Blach, Graham, and St. Nicholas. Fox develops relationships and great friendships during workouts, competitions, team dinners, and leadership camps.
The environment is very friendly and the coaches are extremely positive, and also help guide the individual to be the best athlete possible.
Fox Athletes have successfully continued to compete in track and field beyond Fox and high school track at the following schools: Boston University , Cal Poly (2), Chico State, Claremont McKenna, Colorado School of the Mines, De Anza College, UC-Davis, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD (4), University of Auburn, University of Oregon, Pomona (2), Pitzer College, Tufts.
